Devid Ciampalini (1988) is a impro musician / composer and founder of the Ambient Noise Session collective. He carries out research related to the improvisation and composition of electronic music, using synthesizers, field recordings and magnetic tapes. His work lies on the border between cosmic music and concrete music, a journey into the imaginative sound of the galaxies. Specifically, his technique consists in recording, in multitrack on magnetic tape, synthesizer improvisations and field recordings, then cutting the reel into small portions, mixing them together and rejoining them in a random way, obtaining a stereo sound collage. Once ready, this reel is used as a random sequence to be modified on the spot and with which to interact with synthesizers. From 2011 to 2016 he played in various ensembles, including Metzengerstein, Luce Celestiale, Alga Alma, Holy Hole, Flocculi, Hare, SuperVixens, etc. releasing records and playing live in Europe. He played with New Jooklo Age, a trio formed together with Jooklo Duo and Oracle Column. In 2012 he began a journey with his band “Metzengestein” and in 2013 he released the album “Albero Specchio” with the collaboration of Donato Epiro (Cannibal Movie) for Sonic Meditation (US). In 2012 he released for the English label Zamzam rec “Plan Z” of “Holy Hole” band drone in duo with David Lucchesi. In 2015 the album “Alchemy to our Days” was released for the Yerevan Tapes label, with the collaboration of Virginia Genta (Jooklo Duo) and Giovanni Lami. The national and international press is interested and various articles and interviews in printed paper and radio on the most important header come out. After a series of Italian and European tours, other material is printed with the collaboration of IOIOI for the American label Split Banana in 2016 and he begins his collaboration with Daniele Biondo at the Punk / Noise band with “Hare” a record is released by the collaboration of Micheal Morley (Dead C / Gate) and Nicola Vinciguerra (Fecalove / Splinter vs Stalin ). In 2015 he began his collaboration with Ezio Piermattei and in 2016 “Gara delle facce” was released for the Tutore Burlato label in trio with E. Piermattei and D. Lucchesi. In 2018, “El origen del pensiamento Magico” was released on IKUISSUS records in a duo with the Argentine musician Pablo Picco. In 2021 he released his solo album “Sorgente” on the Canti Magnetici label, “Alga Alma” with Luca Tanzini for his Ambient Noise Session, “Discepolato Nella Nuova Era” with Luce Celestiale on Artetetra, “Meccanismi” in duo with Cristiano Carosi for the Robba label and “Suoni di Confine” latest album of Metzengerstein on romanian label Beachbuddies records. From 2021 he collaborates with Andrea Rusconi (Paq, Augusto Ralla) on a spiritual jazz ensemble “Oracle Column”. In 2022 with Luce Celestiale relased second album “El duodecimo Planeta” on swollen avantgarde, and with Oracle Column released first EP on ZamZamRec. In 2023 released ‘Quasi Umani’ second studio album with Alga Alma, an old improvisation in trio with Andrea Borghi and Marco Baldini on Histamine Tapes and in 2024 released his second solo studio album on Dissipatio label “Eterna 3388” and personal FM studies on the CX5M released on his Ambient Noise Session. From 2024 is co-curator of MUTO, program of experimental music in Livorno.
